Science for Young Children

Science for Young Children

A science booth exhibition event was presented on 5 March 2015, at the ground floor of SEGi College Subang Jaya, by the Diploma in Early Childhood students from the Faculty of Education. A total of 73 students taking the subject – Science for Young Children, were involved in the exhibition.

The objective of the activity was to allow students the experience of planning, organizing, and presenting developmentally appropriate hands-on science activities for young children to explore and discover the world around them.

Students had gained valuable experience in the whole process of conceptualizing and organizing a meaning science lesson in a simulated classroom environment by learning to present and interact constructively with the visitors.

One of the projects, “The Science in our Bread” was also showcased at the FACON Education Fair 2015, at KLCC on 14 – 15 March 2015. The two-day fair was launched by the Deputy Education Minister, YB Tuan Kamalanathan P. Panchanathan, with more than 500 booths set up offering school-leavers information on courses and programmes. Our student, Ms Rebecca Mui, and lecturer Ms Michelle Huan had the opportunity to talk to FACON Fair Guest of Honour, YB Kamalanathan P. Panchanathan,

Feedback from Rebecca was “I am proud to be a SEGian and grateful for the wonderful opportunity to be part of the FACON Education fair. This experience has given me a broader perspective about my studies and allowed me to further develop components and aspects of the lesson plan which we presented.”
