June 13, 2015 – a group of 120 students together with SCSJ Management team and staff, Majlis Perbandaran Sepang (MPS), CSR team from Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) and orang kampong gathered at Pantai Bagan Lalang for a coastal cleanup project organized by Student Affairs Office, SCSJ. Event started at 9:00 am with welcome address by YBrs Tuan Puasa, Yang Dipertua Majlis Perbandaran Sepang and our Principal, Dr. Lisa Tan. Students were briefed on their roles and put into teams to clean up the beach.
While the cleaning up was taking place, another group of students mainly from Faculty of Creative Arts and Design together with Roslan and Nizam were working on the decorations proposed by local villagers to be put along the beach. These decoration were mainly made from recycled items. Our Principal and Deputy Principal were also involved in spraying and arranging these flowers. Our event was a great success and students were very participative despite the hot weather. Breakfast, lunch and tea-break was prepared to keep us all energized and going. In total, over 80 bags full of trash was collected and decorations were put up along a stretch in Pantai Bagan Lalang. Students left Sepang at 5:30 pm and safely reached SCSJ 7:00 pm.
Student Affairs team would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Lisa, Ms. Sue Ann, Ms. Dorville, Mr. Roslan, Mr. Nizam, Ms. Elsie Hui and Mr. Jeffrey for their time and support in making this event a meaningful one for us all and for the local people in Sepang.
