The January 2015 cohort of BA EYE students had a two week preparatory programme from 19 – 30 January 2015. Activities were planned to get the students ready for the rigours of tertiary level academic study. Lecturers had informative and interactive sessions with the students on topics that included time management, independent and collaborative learning techniques, learning styles, peer support, online resources and academic study skills.
A key feature of the BA EYE programme is the work place experience component that runs through all the years of study. Students are to serve 240 – 280 hours per year in TASKA and TADIKA settings. Two sessions were set aside to cover this topic. The session on 27 January featured guest speakers from R.E.A.L Kids, who made a special trip to the College to give the students an insight into the work experience at their centres. One of the speakers was Ms K Thilagavathy A/P M. Krishnasamy, a R.E.A.L Kids management trainee, who talked about how her SEGi DECE experience prepared her for the industry.
R.E.A.L Kids is part of the R.E.A.L Education Group. R.E.A.L Kids is the country’s largest owner-operated kindergarten chain with more than 30 centres and 5,000 students nationwide.
